問：「夏坐幾日得結坐？」答：「從四月十六日盡五月十五日，日日可結，此謂坐。初有事難不得結，或五四三日乃至一月盡，不失前坐，此名三十日結坐一日受歲，後坐人唯得一日結坐。過七月十五日，有事難，日日可受歲，盡八月十五日，此名一日結坐三十日受歲。」

Question: "During which days may the summer rains retreat be demarcated and entered?" Answer: "From the sixteenth day of the fourth month through the fifteenth day of the fifth month, it may be entered on any day; this refers to the retreat. If at the beginning there is a difficult hindrance and one cannot enter it, whether for five, four, or three days or up to the end of a full month, one does not lose the earlier retreat; this is called 'entering the retreat within thirty days and receiving pravāraṇā on a single day.' Those who enter the later retreat may only enter the retreat on a single day. If after the fifteenth day of the seventh month there are difficult hindrances, pravāraṇā may be received on any day up to the fifteenth day of the eighth month; this is called 'entering the retreat on a single day and receiving pravāraṇā within thirty days.'"
