目連白佛言：「世尊！末世比丘，輕慢佛語犯眾學戒，雜用三寶物，當墮何處？」爾時佛告目連：「諦聽諦聽，當為汝說。若比丘，無慚愧，輕慢佛語犯眾學戒，如四天王壽五百歲墮泥犁中，於人間數九百千歲。犯波羅提提舍尼，如三十三天壽千歲墮泥犁中，於人間數三億六十千歲。犯波夜提，如夜摩天壽二千歲墮泥犁中，於人間數二十億千歲。犯偷蘭遮，如兜率天壽四千歲墮泥犁中，於人間數五十億六十千歲。犯僧伽婆尸沙，如不憍樂天壽八千歲墮泥犁中，於人間數二百三十億四十千歲。犯波羅夷，如他化自在天壽十六千歲墮泥犁中，於人間數五百二十一億六十千歲。」

Maudgalyāyana said to the Buddha, "Bhagavat! If bhikṣus of the final age show contempt for the Buddha's words, violate the śaikṣa rules, and use the property of the Three Jewels promiscuously, where will they fall?" At that time, the Buddha told Maudgalyāyana, "Listen attentively, listen attentively; I shall explain it for you. If a bhikṣu is devoid of shame and conscience, shows contempt for the Buddha's words, and violates the śaikṣa rules, he will fall into the naraka for a period equal to the five-hundred-year lifespan of the Cāturmahārājika [gods], which is nine hundred thousand years by human reckoning. If he violates a pratideśanīya, he will fall into the naraka for a period equal to the one-thousand-year lifespan of the Trāyastriṃśa [gods], which is thirty billion sixty thousand years by human reckoning. If he violates a pāyattika, he will fall into the naraka for a period equal to the two-thousand-year lifespan of the Yāma [gods], which is twenty billion thousand years by human reckoning. If he violates a sthūlātyaya, he will fall into the naraka for a period equal to the four-thousand-year lifespan of the Tuṣita [gods], which is fifty billion sixty thousand years by human reckoning. If he violates a saṃghāvaśeṣa, he will fall into the naraka for a period equal to the eight-thousand-year lifespan of the Nirmāṇarati [gods], which is two hundred and thirty billion forty thousand years by human reckoning. If he violates a pārājika, he will fall into the naraka for a period equal to the sixteen-thousand-year lifespan of the Paranirmitavaśavartin [gods], which is five hundred and twenty-one billion sixty thousand years by human reckoning."
