1.56

問：「戒律不用流落，可燒不？」答：「不得。不知有罪，燒捨墮。若知燒有罪，故燒犯決斷。與方便破僧同，亦如燒父母。」

Question: "If the śīla and vinaya are not to be used or are deteriorated, may they be burned?" Answer: "They may not. If unaware that there is fault, burning them is a naiḥsargika-pāyattika. If aware that burning has fault and one intentionally burns them, it constitutes a saṃghāvaśeṣa. It is the same as an expedient means to cause a schism in the saṃgha, and also like burning one's father and mother."
