佛告敬首菩薩：「佛子！吾今略說名門中一賢名門，所謂初發心住。未上住前有十順名字，菩薩常行十心，所謂信心、念心、精進心、慧心、定心、不退心、迴向心、護心、戒心、願心。佛子！修行是心，若經一劫二劫三劫，乃得入初住位中。住是位中，增修百法明門，所謂十信心。心心有十，故修行百法明門。常發無量有行無行大願，得人習種性中廣行一切願。

The Buddha said to Śraddhāpradāna Bodhisattva: "Son of the Buddha! I shall now briefly explain the nominal entrance of the first worthy among the nominal entrances: that which is called the Abode of the Initial Aspiration. Before ascending to this abode, there are ten names of compliance. Bodhisattvas constantly practice ten minds: namely, the mind of faith, the mind of mindfulness, the mind of diligence, the mind of wisdom, the mind of concentration, the mind of non-retrogression, the mind of dedication, the mind of protection, the mind of precepts, and the mind of vows. Son of the Buddha! One who practices these minds, after one kalpa, two kalpas, or three kalpas, is then able to enter into the rank of the first abode. Residing in this rank, one increasingly cultivates the hundred entrances of clear understanding of dharmas, which are the ten minds of faith. As each mind has ten [aspects], one therefore cultivates the hundred entrances of clear understanding of dharmas. One constantly generates immeasurable great vows, both with practices and without practices, and having attained the lineage of practice, extensively carries out all vows:
