2.55

爾時敬首菩薩敬禮於諸佛，奉承大眾教，略問於要義七會之所說，信順三寶藏，為法法不絕、不為世名利，願令法久住，白佛言：「世尊！佛上已說若因若果若賢若聖一切功德藏。今此大眾有十四那由他人，誰能不起此坐受學修道，從始至終一一具行次第入菩薩位者？」

At that time, Śraddhāpradāna Bodhisattva paid homage to the buddhas, received the teaching of the great assembly, and briefly inquired into the essential meanings spoken in the seven assemblies; having faith in and according with the treasury of the three jewels, wishing the Dharma to remain uninterrupted, not for the sake of worldly fame or profit, and desiring that the Dharma abide long, he addressed the Buddha, saying: "World-Honoured One, the Buddha has already spoken above of all the treasuries of merit—whether causes or effects, whether worthy or noble. Now among the fourteen nayutas of persons in this great assembly, who is able, without rising from their seat, to receive the teaching and cultivate the path, practicing each and every one fully from beginning to end, and progressively entering the stages of the bodhisattva?"
