At one time the Buddha was once again visiting the site where he had attained right enlightenment beneath the bodhi tree in the kingdom of King Bimbisāra, and sat down again as before. Formerly, when he first attained buddhahood, his radiant light was exceedingly bright; now he again emitted forty-two rays of light, each ray having a million asaṃkhyeyas of rays of merit as necklace adornments, which adorned the Buddha's body and filled the dharmadhātu. Clear and serene as empty space, his collected spirit illuminated cessation; taking joy in the nature of eternal abiding, he fathomed the spiritual essence of transformation. Great in function and beyond measure, the Dharma King and Dharma Lord acts as father and mother to all sentient beings. He sat spontaneously upon a lion seat of a hundred thousand jewel lotuses, just as all buddhas of antiquity had sat: their virtues, deportment, and marks and signs were identical; their bodies and minds pure, completely endowed with universal practices of merit. The radiance penetrated the vajra treasury, sending forth boundless transformations to illuminate the lands of beings. Free from obstructions across past, future, and present, his transformative reach extended to all, bestowing the Dharma of deliverance upon beings equally throughout the three periods of time, perfectly luminous and singularly reaching, equal to all buddhas.
