"O Son of the Buddha! At that time, the bodhisattva abides in the contemplation of the intermediate forbearance of the gate of great cessation, fulfills merits and practices, ascends the platform of the great mountain, enters hundreds of thousands of samādhis, gathers the demeanor and functions of a Buddha, remaining burdened only with residual fruits, the mind of impermanent arising and ceasing being unconditioned in thought after thought, their practice surpassing the ten grounds, their understanding identical with a Buddha's, sitting in the place where Buddhas sit. Their wisdom sees the two realms of permanent and impermanent phenomena; one should know they are like a Buddha, called 'learning from the Buddha.' All bodhisattvas of the lower grounds cannot distinguish this bodhisattva. To a Buddha, they are called a bodhisattva; to lower bodhisattvas, they are called a Buddha. Why is this? This bodhisattva, by the power of great transformation, abides for a lifespan of a hundred kalpas or ten thousand kalpas, manifesting the transformative acts of a Buddha: initial birth, attaining the path, turning the wheel of Dharma, and entering cessation without remainder. Expounding the eight wheels of Dharma, seeming like a Buddha yet not being a Buddha, because they are equal to all Buddhas. In bodily deportment and conduct, they are identical in all dharmas; abiding within these hundreds of thousands of samādhis, with such Buddha-practices, they thus enter the vajra-samādhi, a single sign, signless, quiescent, and unconditioned, and therefore it is called the Stainless Ground.
