"Then the great king said to his sons: 'Today I wish to provide an offering, and I fear that my physical life will not survive; I part with you all. As for the land, the people, and all the royal laws, let them be governed following the eldest.' When the princes heard these words, their bodies, limbs, and sinews ached and were racked with pain. It was like a choking person who can neither swallow nor vomit. In faint voices, they asked their father the king: 'Why do you today forever abandon us and turn your back on us?' Then the princes came forward and embraced the king's neck, or took hold of his hands and feet, weeping sorrowfully and crying aloud: 'How monstrous! How monstrous! Why today are we forever to lose our shelter and protection?'
