3.17

爾時彌勒菩薩觀察眾心，咸皆有疑，自亦未了。即從座起，往到佛前，頭面禮足，合掌向佛，而作是言：「世尊！以何因緣有此寶塔從地踊出？」

At that time, Maitreya Bodhisattva observed the minds of the assembly, that all had doubts, and he himself was not yet clear about it. He immediately arose from his seat, went before the Buddha, bowed his head to his feet, joined his palms toward the Buddha, and spoke these words: "Bhagavat! By what cause and condition has this jeweled stūpa welled up from the earth?"
