4.13

「爾時第一夫人便白王言：『如子心意難可傾動，不可違戾，何忍當見此子捨命於此？願大王垂慈，聽入大海，故當萬有一冀。今不聽者，必喪於此。』王不忍拒，而便聽許。

"At that time, the first consort addressed the king, saying: 'The boy's mind cannot easily be shaken or opposed. How can we bear to see this child abandon his life here? May the great king bestow compassion and grant him permission to enter the great sea, so that there may still be one chance in ten thousand. If you do not permit him now, he will surely perish here.' Unable to bear refusing him, the king then granted permission.
