4.23

「爾時太子到城門外，見諸毒龍，即慈心念閻浮提一切眾生：『今我此身，若為此毒龍所害者，汝等一切眾生皆當失大利益。』爾時太子即舉右手，告諸毒龍：『汝等當知！我今為一切眾生，欲見龍王。』

"At that time, the crown prince arrived outside the city gates. Seeing the venomous dragons, he thought with a mind of benevolence of all sentient beings of Jambudvīpa: 'If my body should now be harmed by these venomous dragons, all of you sentient beings will lose a great benefit.' At that time, the crown prince raised his right hand and said to the venomous dragons: 'You should know! For the sake of all sentient beings, I now wish to see the dragon king.'
