6.83

答曰：「現在一念得戒。過去未來是法，非眾生，故不得戒；現在一念是眾生，故得戒。」

He replied, “One obtains the precepts in a single thought-moment of the present. The past and the future are dharmas and not sentient beings, and therefore one does not obtain them [there]; a single thought-moment of the present is a sentient being, and therefore one obtains the precepts.”
