The Buddha told Ānanda: "All members of the great assembly, all bodhisattva-mahāsattvas and good sons! Which among you can constantly be mindful of the Buddha's kindness, protect and uphold the saddharma, and write, copy, read, and recite this subtle, profound Sūtra of the Buddha Repaying Kindness through Mahopāya? Who can arouse great vigor in the later evil age to receive, uphold, and protect anuttarasamyaksaṃbodhi? Who can protect the Dharma, disseminate this sūtra, and bring boundless benefit to all sentient beings?"
