論曰：由染淨諸法互有勝劣故，二種轉門得成而已。今當先說初下轉門。根本無明以何等法而為所熏？於何時中而作熏事？頌曰：
The treatise says: Because defiled and pure dharmas mutually have superiority and inferiority, the two gates of turning are established. Now we shall first explain the initial gate of downward turning. What dharmas does fundamental ignorance take as the perfumed? At what time does it perform the activity of perfuming? A verse says:
