Just as waves on the great ocean
Arise because of fierce winds,
Great billows surge in the deep abyss
Without ever a moment of cessation,
The ocean of the storehouse consciousness is permanently abiding;
Stirred by the winds of the objective realm,
The waves of various consciousnesses
Leap up and are born transforming.
Blue, red, and various colors,
Conch pearls, milk, and candied sugar,
Bland flavors, various flowers and fruits,
The sun, the moon, and radiant light,
Are neither different nor non-different.
As the ocean water gives rise to waves,
The seven consciousnesses are also like this,
Born arising in conjunction with the mind.
Just as the ocean water transforms
And various waves turn,
The seven consciousnesses are also like this,
Born arising in conjunction with the mind.
Namely, at the place of that storehouse consciousness,
Various consciousnesses turn,
Namely, through that mental consciousness,
Reflecting upon the meanings of various characteristics.
The eight are non-destructible characteristics;
They are without characteristics, and also without absence of characteristics.
