The commentary says: In explaining the aspects of cultivation based on illumination, from here below is the second: the treasury-of-wisdom dharma gate of being well able to discipline, because one relies on illumination to eliminate anger and so forth. The text's meaning has three parts, which should be explained in accord with the preceding. This is the first, generally indicating the name of the expounded dharma gate. 'Well able to discipline' means that being able to eliminate anger and so forth is named well able to discipline. In 'disciplining sentient beings through the esoteric gathering-in of wisdom,' the wisdom of illumination is subtle and wondrous, so it is named 'esoteric.' This wisdom serves as a treasury, fully able to gather in all the qualities possessed by the dharmas of all Buddhas, and is thus named 'gathering-in' and also 'treasury of wisdom.' Because through this treasury of wisdom one can eliminate the faults of anger, wrath, and so forth in oneself and others, it is therefore named 'disciplining.' The meaning of this gate reveals that through the wisdom of illumination, one penetrates the intrinsic nature of phenomena, and bad phenomena like anger and wrath can all be disciplined.
