3.196

經曰：又如蓮華形色光淨，不為一切穢物所染。如是貪等饒益世間，住過有過常不能染。

The sūtra says: "Furthermore, just as a lotus flower's form and color are pure and bright, unstained by any foul defilement, so too does desire and the like benefit the world, and abiding in faults or having faults, it constantly cannot stain [the bodhisattva]."
