1.138

第三校量者，謂以一恒河沙等身命布施，不如受、持一四句偈。第四校量者，一日三時，於一一時皆以恒河沙等身命布施，不如聞此經典信心不逆。此二以法施校量也，謂以內身行法供養故。或初二外財施以校量，次二內財施以校量也。於四之中第二、第三合為一文，故總為三段，一一段中皆有四文，謂初三破疑，第四正校量，故合之為十二段也。

The third comparison is that giving away lives and bodies as numerous as the sands of a Gaṅgā River is not as good as receiving and upholding a single four-line verse. The fourth comparison is that at the three times of a single day, giving away lives and bodies as numerous as the sands of a Gaṅgā River at each time is not as good as hearing this sūtra and having faithful confidence without opposition. These two are comparisons made using the giving of Dharma, meaning that one conducts offerings of Dharma with one's internal body. Alternatively, the first two are comparisons with the giving of external wealth, and the latter two are comparisons with the giving of internal wealth. Among the four, the second and third are merged into one text; thus there are three passages in total. Within each passage there are four texts: the first three refute doubts and the fourth is the direct comparison; therefore, combined, they make twelve passages.
