1.150

今此文中初、問，次、答，此初也。「言說章句」，謂能詮教也。「生實想」者，謂能起智，順其無相因果也。謂有惡眾生，於其無相，不生智順；於其有相，返生順智，故善現作此問也。

Now in this text, first is the question and next is the answer; this is the first. "Spoken phrases and verses" refers to the teaching that can express. "Giving rise to true notions" refers to being able to generate wisdom that accords with the signless cause and fruit. This means that evil sentient beings do not generate wisdom that accords with signlessness; towards that with signs, they conversely generate according wisdom. Therefore Subhūti asked this question.
