1.46

「千二百五十人」者，佛初成道，初一時中，度五人俱隣等；第二時，度耶舍等五十人；第三時，度舍利子等一百人；第四時，度目犍連等一百人；第五時，度優樓頻螺迦葉等五百人；第六時，度迦耶迦葉等二百九十五人；第七時，度那提迦葉等二百人。如是總有千二百五十人，此舉常隨徒眾也。准下亦有比丘尼眾等，今此略故也。

Regarding the 'twelve hundred and fifty': when the Buddha first attained enlightenment, during the first period he delivered the five men including Kauṇḍinya; in the second period, he delivered Yaśas and others, fifty men; in the third period, he delivered Śāriputra and others, one hundred men; in the fourth period, he delivered Maudgalyāyana and others, one hundred men; in the fifth period, he delivered Uruvilvā-Kāśyapa and others, five hundred men; in the sixth period, he delivered Gayā-Kāśyapa and others, two hundred and ninety-five men; in the seventh period, he delivered Nadī-Kāśyapa and others, two hundred men. Thus there were twelve hundred and fifty in all; this mentions his regular retinue. By following what comes below, there was also a community of bhikṣuṇīs and others, which is omitted here for brevity.
