2.37

述曰，依世親釋，此破第二疑也。謂有疑曰：「向說無相因得無相果，於證果中無道，云何彼於果能作因？此文意云所證法既無相，空寂無住等行云何能作因耶？」為斷此疑故也。此文有二，初、明不妄語，次、遣外執，此初也。

The commentary says: According to Vasubandhu's commentary, this refutes the second doubt. A doubt arose, saying: "Earlier it was said that an animitta cause attains an animitta fruit, yet within the realization of the fruit there is no path; how can that [cause] serve as a cause for the fruit? The meaning of this text is: since the realized Dharma is animitta, how can practices such as empty quiescence and non-abiding serve as a cause?" It is to sever this doubt [that this is stated]. This text has two parts: first, clarifying non-false speech; second, dispelling external attachments. This is the first.
