Well entrusting also has six kinds. First, place of refuge: that which is taken as a place of refuge is called a place of refuge; "place" means a safe dwelling. That is, the Buddha entrusts those of immature faculties, saying: "After my nirvāṇa, take refuge in other bodhisattvas, Buddhas," and so forth; thus all good spiritual friends are made the place of refuge. Second, naturally attained: those whose faculties are already mature are naturally capable of gathering in and benefiting others, like a mother to her child. Third, transmitting the teachings: causing them to transmit and expound the profound Dharma of prajñā, so that the transmission of the lamp continues without interruption. Fourth, non-loss: this is identical to the place of refuge; by having that to which one takes refuge, one does not lose the correct Dharma and the correct path. Fifth, compassion: this is identical to what is natural; because of having compassion, one is naturally able to gather in and benefit others. Sixth, reverence: this is identical to transmitting in turn; because of revering prajñā, one is able to transmit the teachings from one to another.
