Commentary: Vasubandhu explains: This is the second [section], adducing a simile to manifest the body. First, the Buddha adduces the simile, and next, Subhūti accords and completes it. 'Tall' is a simile for the sambhogakāya, which in other sūtras is also called 'wondrous'; 'large' is a simile for the dharmakāya. These two kinds of bodies are attained respectively by abandoning the two obscurations of the knowable and of affliction. Speaking of 'a person's body being tall and large' refers to the two bodies of dharma and sambhoga. 'Is not a large body' means that it is not the body of conceptual thoughts and discriminations.
