If one attains this wisdom, one is able to be born into the Tathāgata's family and is able to definitely inherit the Buddha's lineage; this is the wisdom that incorporates into the lineage. The pure dharmadhātu is the dwelling place of the Buddha, called the Tathāgata's family; the bodhisattva who enters the bhūmi realizes and joins with it through non-conceptual wisdom, which is spoken of as being born. Because such a bodhisattva is definitely able to inherit the Buddha's lineage, it is called the wisdom that incorporates into the lineage. It should be known that because bodhisattvas before the bhūmis have not yet been born into the Tathāgata's family, although they are Buddha-sons, they are somewhat distant, and so are not called inheritors of the Buddha's lineage. Although persons of the two vehicles are also Buddha-sons, because they seek only their own benefit they too are incapable of inheriting; thus the Mahāyānasaṃgraha says that śrāvakas are like the son of an ignorant maidservant. As for all ordinary beings, although they are also gathered in and protected by the Buddha, who equally gives rise to compassion toward them, because they have not yet generated bodhicitta they too are incapable of inheriting. Only the bodhisattva who enters the bhūmi is directly born from the true dharmadhātu, and therefore is capable of inheriting the Buddha's lineage. The treatise says: 'If one aspires for a long night to be born into this family, having attained birth, one immediately attains that body; this is called the wondrous body'—meaning that because the bodhisattva before the bhūmis vigorously aspires for this family for a long night, upon attaining entry into the first bhūmi, he immediately attains the wondrous body.
