論云「驚者，謂非處生懼。怖者，不能斷疑心故。畏者，一向怖故，其心畢竟墮驚怖故。」
The Treatise says: "'Startled' means giving rise to fear where there is no basis for it. 'Terrified' means being unable to cut off the doubtful mind. 'Afraid' means being continuously fearful, because one's mind ultimately falls into shock and terror."
