"Bodies and lives at the three times": that is, the sūtra says: "Subhūti! If there were a good man or good woman who, in the initial part of the day, gave away bodies and lives equal to the sands of the Ganges River ... even up to how much more so copying, upholding, reading, reciting, and explaining it for others." "Beyond the reach of metaphor" below has two meanings: first, that it cannot be equaled by the metaphors of these internal and external kinds of wealth; second, as the text below says: "I recall in the past, immeasurable asaṃkhyeya kalpas ago, before Dīpaṅkara Buddha ... even up to not being reachable by metaphor." Containing these two meanings, it is thus said to be beyond the reach of metaphor.
