本始會者。妄念起時隔於本始，念既不起本始自同，攝用歸體故言會也。斯則體用一對。

"Original [enlightenment] and initial [enlightenment] unite": when deluded thoughts arise, they separate the original and the initial; since thoughts do not arise, the original and the initial are naturally identical. Because function is gathered back into the entity, it says "unite." This constitutes the pair of entity and function.
