未說等者，即成道之後十二年已前，但說人天因果及四諦緣生，未說三空般若。

"Prior to the expounding", etc., refers to the period before the twelfth year after attaining awakening, when he taught only the cause and effect of humans and devas, the four truths, and conditioned arising, and had not yet taught the prajñā of the three emptinesses.
