3.163

十八等者，於中合有二。謂此住中初國土淨具足，當修道位。故前疏云：「此教二地已上諸大菩薩。」從無上見智淨具足已下，皆究竟位。故前疏云：「此下皆住佛果也。」是則十八住中，前十四資糧，十五十六加行，十七見道，十八中初一具足修道，餘即無學道也。懸判竟。

On "the eighteenth, etc.": within this there are combined two. That is, the initial "endowment of the purification of buddha-fields" within this dwelling corresponds to the path of cultivation. Hence the earlier Commentary says, "This instructs all great bodhisattvas from the second ground and above." From the "endowment of supreme seeing, knowledge, and purification" downward, all belong to the ultimate stage. Hence the earlier Commentary says, "From this downward, all abide in the Buddha fruition." Therefore, among the eighteen dwellings: the first fourteen are the provisions; the fifteenth and sixteenth are the aids to application; the seventeenth is the path of seeing; in the eighteenth, the first endowment is the path of cultivation, and the remainder is the path of no-more-learning. The preliminary determination is finished.
