勅聽許說者。經云：「汝今諦聽」，勅聽也。「當為汝說」，許說也。諦謂審實之義，意令審諦真實用心聽也。

"Commanding to listen and granting the exposition": the sūtra says, "Listen attentively now," which is commanding to listen; "I shall explain it for you," which is granting the exposition. "Attentively" has the meaning of careful scrutiny; the intention is to cause him to listen with a carefully discerning and authentic mind.
