《智論》下。釋相。端視謂不左顧右眄也。目若別顧心則異緣，本欲制心且令端視，此是用心之方便也。
On the Da zhidu lun and so forth: explaining the marks. "Looking straight ahead" means not glancing left or looking right. If the eyes look elsewhere, the mind conforms to a different condition; originally wishing to master the mind, one first causes the eyes to look straight ahead; this is an expedient for employing the mind.
