4.183

先引經。論云下。釋義。能生因者正修福業，即信解持說者也。自體果者，即熏成種子自體，後感當果也。正起者，作福之時當於現行。彼滅者，謂現行滅謝種子方成，蘊在識中用感當果。

First, the sūtra is cited. On 'The treatise says…' and so forth: Explaining the meaning. 'The productive cause' refers to the actual cultivation of meritorious karma, which is the person who faithfully understands, upholds, and explains it. 'The result of its own entity' refers to perfuming and becoming the intrinsic entity of seeds, which later induces the future result. 'Properly arising' refers to the time of performing merit, which corresponds to the active manifestation. 'Their cessation' refers to the fact that only when the active manifestation ceases and passes away are the seeds fully formed, stored within consciousness to induce the future result.
