應受等者。為超出人天故，堪受人天供養。若或一種淪溺，寧堪供之？故《俱舍》云：「供養阿羅漢，得現在福報。」蓋由業煩惱盡、福田勝故。當知，未出三界受他供養者，大須隨順出離，豈得安然免之哉？

"Worthy of receiving [offerings]" and so forth means that, because they have transcended gods and humans, they are fit to receive offerings from gods and humans. If one were to remain sunk [in saṃsāra] as they are, how could one be worthy of being made offerings to? Therefore the Abhidharmakośa states: "Making offerings to an arhat brings retribution in the present life." This is because karma and afflictions are exhausted, and the field of merit is supreme. One should know that for those who receive offerings from others while not yet having transcended the triple realm, they must diligently accord with renunciation—how could they complacently avoid [the consequences]?
