佛意。經云：「若我當此之時作如是念，我得阿羅漢果，佛則不說我為樂寂靜者。」只緣不作是念，故佛讚之。

The Buddha's intent: the sūtra states, "If at that time I had formed such a thought, [thinking] 'I have attained the fruit of an arhat,' the Buddha would not have said that I am one who delights in tranquil solitude." It is solely because he did not form this thought that the Buddha praised him.
