5.145

論云下。出勸之由也。謂不能安忍，欲捨菩提心，由見苦故。見苦是苦者，由不離我相故。若離我相則不見苦，自然成忍不捨菩提故。今勸之令離相也。

"The treatise says...", etc.: Sets forth the reason for the exhortation. It means that being unable to endure patiently and wishing to abandon the bodhicitta arises from perceiving suffering. Perceiving suffering as suffering arises from not departing from the characteristic of a self. If one departs from the characteristic of a self, one does not perceive suffering, naturally accomplishes forbearance, and does not abandon bodhi. Now it exhorts one to depart from characteristics.
