5.241

非菩薩。經徵意云：以何義故，度眾生令不起眾生之念耶？釋意云：若有我相、眾生相等，非菩薩故。前約所度之境，此約能度之心，心境合論通名為我。既前後互舉，則顯能所皆無也。

"Is not a bodhisattva": the sūtra's interrogation means: for what reason, in delivering sentient beings, does one cause the thought of sentient beings not to arise? The explanation means: if one has the mark of a self, the mark of sentient beings, and so forth, one is not a bodhisattva. The former concerned the objective sphere to be delivered; this concerns the subjective mind capable of delivering. Considering mind and sphere together, both are generally designated as 'self'. Since the text mutually cites both before and after, it reveals that both subject and object do not exist.
