"Seeing pure wisdom..." etc.: not only are there no self and other that are seen, but the cognitive function of the wisdom capable of seeing is also absent; this is both subject and object being eradicated. The *Sūtra of Complete Enlightenment* states: "Relying on illusion, one speaks of enlightenment; this is also named illusion. Since both are illusion, how could they remain?" However, although subject and object are both eradicated, it does not become annihilation, because the numinous source and true mind originally lack subject and object. Falsely generating subject and object is precisely deviating from truth; once subject and object are eliminated, one accords with the fundamental essence, numinously illuminated and not benighted, with thing and self both as such. Therefore the *Avataṃsaka* states: "The seer and the seen—the seer entirely banishes them; yet without destroying true seeing, this is called the true seer." Furthermore, the *Complete Enlightenment* states: "All illusions completely extinguished, the enlightened mind is unmoving."
