5.284

等菩薩行者。謂將前菩薩行以等菩提，即指同前來萬一之中，皆無得菩提義也。但空生疑得故，以佛等菩提；佛顯無得故，以菩提等行。

"Equal to the bodhisattva practices" means taking the previous bodhisattva practices to equal bodhi; that is, it refers to the fact that among the myriad practices mentioned earlier, none has the meaning of attaining bodhi. It is only because Subhūti doubted attainment that he equated the Buddha with bodhi; because the Buddha revealed non-attainment, he equated bodhi with practices.
