生信心者。生大乘正信心也。不信一切法方為正信，此信與聖性相應。故《起信》云：「如是信心成就得發心者，入正定聚畢竟不退，名住如來種中正因相應。」次揀聖性有人以酬。「佛言：『須菩提！彼非眾生非不眾生。』」

"Generating faithful minds": generating the correct faithful mind of the Mahāyāna. Only when not having faith in any dharma is it correct faith; this faith accords with the noble nature. Therefore the Awakening of Faith says: "Those who have accomplished such faith and are able to generate the mind enter the group of correct determination, never falling back; they are called those who abide in the Tathāgata's lineage and accord with the correct cause." Next, it distinguishes that among persons of noble nature there are some [who believe], by way of reply: "The Buddha said: 'Subhūti! They are neither sentient beings nor non-sentient beings.'"
