Regarding "because from, etc.": explaining the reason. Although ordinary and noble, defiled and pure, superior and inferior differ, all arise from thought and none are not empty and false. Thought has no intrinsic mark and is not separate from the enlightened nature. When thought does not even possess an intrinsic nature, how could the marks manifested by it truly exist? Because thought is that upon which things depend, and marks are that which depends; when the support is already empty, how can that which depends exist? It is just as when the skin no longer exists, where could the hair attach?
