Regarding "the previous four," and so forth: the Buddha possesses this eye, hence it is called the Buddha eye. Because the first two eyes are shared with ordinary beings, the two vehicles lack the Dharma eye, and bodhisattvas, though possessing it, are still inferior; when present in the Buddha, all four are supremely extraordinary and collectively named the Buddha eye. Thus, outside of the Buddha eye, there are no four separate eyes. It is just like the four rivers flowing into the sea and losing their original names.
