"Further, seeing," and so forth: because what is seen is the Buddha-nature, this eye is able to see it. As the Nirvāṇa [Sūtra] says: "The śrāvakas have much concentration and little wisdom, so they do not see the Buddha-nature; the bodhisattvas have much wisdom and little concentration, so although they see the Buddha-nature, it is still not clear; the Buddhas, Tathāgatas, have concentration and wisdom in balance, hence they see the nature clearly, like looking at an āmalaka fruit in the palm of the hand." Is this not indeed the meaning of the consummate ultimate?
