「須菩提！我念過去無量阿僧祇劫，於然燈佛前得值八百四千萬億那由他諸佛，悉皆供養承事，無空過者。若復有人於後末世能受持讀誦此經，所得功德於我所供養諸佛功德，百分不及一、千萬億分，乃至算數譬喻所不能及。」

"Subhūti, I recall that in the past, across immeasurable asaṃkhyeya kalpas, before the Buddha Dīpaṃkara, I encountered eight hundred and four thousand myriads of koṭis of nayutas of Buddhas, and made offerings to and served them all, without passing any by in vain. If there is someone in the final period of the latter age who can receive, uphold, read, and recite this scripture, the merit they obtain, when compared to the merit of my making offerings to all those Buddhas, does not equal a hundredth part, a thousandth, a myriadth, or a koṭi part, and is even beyond what reckoning or metaphor can reach."
