持誦此經者，人當恭敬，而反被人輕賤者，以宿罪業合招惡報，由經力故但被輕賤，被輕賤故，其罪消滅，當得無上佛果，持經功德可謂大矣。

One who upholds and recites this sūtra ought to be revered by people, but if instead they are despised by people, it is because their past sinful karma ought to incur an evil retribution; yet through the power of the sūtra, they are merely despised. Because they are despised, their sin is eradicated, and they will attain the unsurpassed fruit of Buddhahood. The merit of upholding the sūtra can indeed be called great.
