The preceding text has three clauses, which can be understood. The reason for establishing the measure of the dharma is that the substance of their practice is free from the affliction obstacle and the cognitive obstacle, ultimately being replete with the dharmakāya. Here, 'wondrous and great' has two kinds: first, pervading all places; second, greatness of merit; therefore it is called a great body. 'Pervading all and great' means that tathatā has no distinctions in all dharmas. When the text says 'is not a great body', it is a body free of all marks; 'is called a great body' means it is the substance of tathatā. Within the second, concluding the great body, there are four points: first, concluding the meaning of 'great'; second, from 'The Buddha said' downward, examining and determining whether it is so or not; third, from 'World-Honored One' downward, revealing the correct principle; fourth, from 'Therefore the Buddha says' downward, citing the sacred teaching to conclude the correct principle.
