Regarding the third [part], integrating the mark of cause fulfilling effect, in the text there are five: first, verifying whether it is permissible or not; second, from 'Subhūti, do not form this thought' downward, checking the view of the mark of the maturation of bodhi; third, from 'Subhūti, if you form this thought' downward, establishing the faulty mark of the mind that can generate it; fourth, from 'Subhūti, do not form this thought' downward, reproving that putative notion; fifth, from 'Why is this' downward, question and answer revealing virtue. Doubters from outside say: 'If the bodhi mind does not produce the fruit, that means one does not attain true bodhi relying on merit.' To eliminate this doubt, the sūtra therefore says: 'A bodhisattva who gives rise to the bodhi mind does not speak of the mark of annihilation regarding dharmas,' because they are capable of accomplishing the adornment of wisdom and the adornment of merit.
