Eighth, listing the assembly of the six heavens of the desire realm, which has four [parts]: first, listing the number; second, listing the names; third, praising their virtues; fourth, concluding summary. First, 'koṭis of koṭis' is a doubled number of koṭis. From 'six desire heavens' onward, second, listing the names. The Four Heavenly Kings: in the east, Dhṛtarāṣṭra, translated here as Lord Who Upholds the Country; in the south, Virūḍhaka, translated here as Lord of Growth; in the west, Virūpākṣa, translated here as Lord of Diverse Speech; in the north, Vaiśravaṇa, translated here as Lord Who Hears Much. Second, the Trāyastriṃśa heaven, translated here as Playful Pleasure, also called the Heaven of the Thirty-Three. Third, the Yāma heaven, translated here as Good Division, also called Good Time. Fourth, the Tuṣita heaven, translated here as Contentment. Fifth, the Nirmāṇarati heaven, who enjoy themselves by creating their own objects of pleasure. Sixth, the Paranirmitavaśavartin heaven, who freely enjoy pleasures as others create the five desire objects of pleasure, hence called Free Master of Others' Creations. From 'ten virtues' onward, third, praising their virtues. Not giving rise to the ten evils is the ten virtues; obtaining the retribution of the six heavens, it is therefore called the 'retribution of the ten virtues'. From 'merits were all completely perfected' onward, fourth, the concluding summary.
