From 'Great King, the seven Buddhas' on is the second section of the response, praising the teaching, exhorting practice, and clarifying the merit of the sūtra. The text has six parts: first, clarifying that the path of the Buddhas is identical; from 'you and the great assembly' on, second, exhorting to uphold it; from 'there are immeasurable' on, third, separately listing three turns of Buddhas; from 'these three Buddhas above' on, fourth, collectively taking up the three Buddhas above to clarify the extent of the portions of the teaching when explaining prajñā; from 'how much more' on, fifth, comparative evaluation; from 'at that time, the assembly' on, sixth, hearing the Dharma and gaining benefit. First, the path of the Buddhas is identical: the text says that what was spoken by the seven Buddhas and what I now speak as prajñā are without duality and without distinction. Broadly explained, Śākyamuni is included among the seven Buddhas, showing that what he speaks is identical to that of the six Buddhas, manifesting that the Dharma is authentic. Being identical in having nothing to be attained (aprāptitva), they are without duality and without distinction. Second, exhorting to uphold: the text says 'you and the great assembly uphold it.' The Da zhidu lun explains upholding: 'To hear and practice accordingly is to receive (受); not to lose it for a long time is to uphold (持).' Hence it is called 'receiving and upholding'. Reciting and explaining the meaning are easy to understand. Third, adducing three turns of Buddhas transforming beings: from 'immeasurable, unspeakable Buddhas' is the first. Second, from 'each Buddha transforms immeasurable, unspeakable beings; each being attains Buddhahood' constitutes the second turn of Buddhas. From 'these Buddhas again transform immeasurable, unspeakable beings' on is the third turn of Buddhas.
