"Great master" refers to a great bodhisattva. "Trāyastriṃśa" is the king within the ground. The next line clarifies the extent of the lands he converts. In the next line, "unconditioned" means having no object grasped by the inner mind. "Without characteristics" means having no characteristics of the two truths; being free from these conditions and characteristics is called the "third truth." It is also said that "unconditioned" means knowing that the mind has no conditions, while "without characteristics" means that form lacks characteristics; that these two are intrinsically empty is called the "third truth." In the next line, "without non-being" means being devoid of the two truths of ultimate and conventional; hence it says "without non-being." "Unborn" refers to the unborn of the first ground. "Illuminating without duality" means lacking the dual views of ultimate and conventional; hence it says "illuminating without duality." In the third [part], the two lines from "Bright wisdom" praise the upper grade of the patience of faith on the third ground, having four distinctions: the first line explains the name of the ground and identifies the king within the ground; the next line clarifies the lands converted; the next line clarifies that the upper grade of the patience of faith enters the three truths, completely illuminating the sphere of objects so that the truths of form and mind are empty, which is termed "within the three truths"; the next line, "emerging from being and entering non-being," clarifies that the bodhisattva of the third ground conditions being to transform living beings without clinging, which is "emerging from being," and that being identical with being he knows emptiness, which is "entering non-being." Because supernormal powers bring about transformations, it says "he produces transformational births." The two verses from "Good Awakening, Free [from Defilement], and Bright [Wisdom]" summarize the patience of faith above. The first line summarizes the preceding three stages: "Awakening" is the first ground, "Free" is the second ground, and "Bright" is the third ground; hence they are called "three persons of the path." The second line praises the virtue of severance: "able to extinguish the afflictions of form in the three realms" clarifies the grounds' severing of obstacles, which here refers to the afflictions of transformational form.
