From "Good sons!" downward is the second part, extensively distinguishing the fourteen patiences. It opens the five patiences into fourteen patiences. First, explaining the lineage of habituation as the patience of habituation, there are three sections: first, indicating the persons cultivating the patience; second, separately listing the ten kinds of mind; third, from "in this way a bodhisattva" downward, explaining the capacity to transform sentient beings. The text says, "sentient beings as numerous as the sands of the Ganges who first generate the mark of faith and cultivate the patience of subduing": the explanation is that when the various merits cultivated by humans, gods, and the two vehicles of immeasurable Ganges-sands worlds are gathered together into a single share, it is exactly equal to a bodhisattva of the mind of faith. The text says "give rise to the lineage of habituation within the Three Jewels": the principle of the Three Jewels is precisely the fruit-retribution; their resolve is far-reaching and great, so they are not timid, diligently exerting themselves in the Three Jewels; this is precisely the ten faiths that are the fundamental nature of habituating all-knowledge.
